SYRIAN ARMY SEIZED LARGEST GAS FIELD

DAMASCUS, SYRIA  – On Thursday evening, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) seized the last oil wells in the Al-Shaer Gas Fields of eastern Homs, thereby completely expelling ISIS from one of the country’s largest gas fields.
The last point to be captured was the 105th gas well which was seized in a joint operation conducted by the 5th Legion alongside elements of the SAA’s 11th and 18th division.
Meanwhile, Russian jets carried out dozens of sorties against nearby ISIS-held positions in a bid to avoid the hardline jihadist group from retaking the imperative facility.
Now, Syrian sappers and engineers have been tasked with clearing the Al-Shaer Gas Fields of mines and bringing it back to full functionality. An ongoing fire was also to be stopped.
Notably, recent advances northwest of Palmyra bring back hope that the Syrian Government will be able to solve a long-standing power shortage, heavily affecting everyday life and industries in a number of major cities.
