BEIRUT, LEBANON – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) began an important assault on the jihadist-controlled district of Al-Qaboun this morning, targeting Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham’s final positions in this east Damascus pocket.
Led by the 42nd Brigade (Ghiath Forces) of the 4th Mechanized Division and 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, Syrian Army tanks unleashed a lethal assault on the southern part of Al-Qaboun, inflicting heavy damage on the jihadist defenses.
At the northern part of Al-Qaboun, Syrian Arab Army artillery units launched several mortar shells and surface-to-surface missiles towards the jihadist trenches in this district, scoring direct hits on the enemy positions.
According to a military source from the 42nd Brigade, the Syrian Arab Army is attempting to inflict as much damage as they can on the enemy defenses in order to force them to surrender.
