The military drills involved hundreds of marines from both the Syrian and Russian forces, yesterday, marking the first time this year that both entities used the naval base for training exercises.
Last year, the Russian military began the process of expanding this naval installation in Tartous from a repair facility to a maritime base capable of docking large ships.
